Intermon Oxfam is looking to fill the position of Flying Public Health Promotion Specialist (Humanitarian Support Personnel Public Health Promotion) for the International Cooperation Department.

Reporting to the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinator the person selected will be work to provide humanitarian response and support for the promotion of health and hygiene by Intermón Oxfam in cases of natural disasters or humanitarian crises and other humanitarian programs.

The position aims to improve the quality of the public health and hygiene aspects of the WaSH department at headquarters as well as the quality of field work in our humanitarian contexts.

The position is divided between work done at headquarters (20% of time) contributing to the global WASH programs and objectives and work done at the field level (80% of time) which includes the following: Emergency response; Team support/trainings (punctual); Filling gaps / other.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

To contribute to the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene team’s work and strategy at both a field and institutional level.


To analyse and identify the needs during an emergency or a humanitarian crisis in order to elaborate an operational plan based on health and hygiene promotion.


To evaluate and implement health and hygiene promotion activities and the community participation to the support of those affected by the emergency.


To work with the water and sanitation team to ensure that the technical solutions for the supply of water and sanitation include the affected population cultural traits


To identify and evaluate the existing resources and the local partners, humanitarian agencies and governmental authorities capacities.


To evaluate the risk situations concerning public health in the affected area and rapidly and efficiently answer to the emergencies.


To lead the health and hygiene promotion team and carry out the follow up of the selected activities and initiatives.


To provide training and support to programs and teams, in response to needs and gaps both at field and headquarters level.


To make sure the gender base approach, the protection and the HIV/AIDS are taken into account in the water and sanitation activities and in the health and hygiene promotion.


To analyse current public health (and WaSH) tools used at the field and HQ levels and provide constructive feedback for their regular adaptation and improvement.


To represent Intermón Oxfam before the humanitarian agencies, the governmental authorities and the media on the field.

 
REQUIRED PROFILE

Experience in emergency programmes is mandatory.

Languages: A high French level is required. And advanced level of English or Spanish.

Result orientated and organisational capacity and vision for overall program improvement.

Team work and collaboration, ability to engage with the teams at both field and headquarters level.

High flexibility and adaptation to change.

Sensitive to gender issues and right based approach.

 Availability to stay on the field, with no notification, at any time and in any country for the necessary time.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Contract of employment: Contract for 1 year.

Annual gross salary: 32.800 Euros

Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance, as well as children benefits.

Working place: Barcelona or home based position - It is estimated that 80% of the time is spent on the field.

Incorporation: As soon as possible.

Con motivo de mi elección como Padrino de la II Promoción del Grado en ingeniería Agrícola y del Medio Rural en la Universidad de La Laguna, les muestro el discurso realizado.
